Los Angeles, the city often referred to as the "home of Hollywood," is currently under the grip of a devastating wildfire. As of Monday morning, 25 people have lost their lives, more than 10,000 structures have been destroyed, and millions have been displaced.
Amid this, several Nepali film actors are in Los Angeles. Some are struggling to make a name in Hollywood, while others are involved in business ventures. A few have been updating the situation on social media. Among them is Emmy Award-winning Nepali actor Jaswantdev Shrestha, who has been busy in Hollywood for years. On Monday morning, he shared a heart-wrenching image along with the words, "Dreams can't burn."
Sharing a picture of an Oscar trophy found inside a destroyed home, he wrote, "It was heartbreaking to see the Oscar trophy burned by the fire. While the flames may have destroyed the physical trophy, it can never extinguish the legacy, passion, and artistry. To the Academy members, your work has inspired countless lives, and its impact will always shine brighter than the fire. Love and strength to all those affected by this tragedy." The photo was shared by actress Isabella Rossellini.
In another post, Jaswant expressed gratitude towards the firefighters, writing, "Our heroes are fighting bravely. The battle isn't over. Please keep them in your prayers."
Nepali actor Byas Bisu, who starred in the Nepali film Life in LA last year, also shared his experience. Living in Los Angeles, he mentioned that they are safe and a little farther from the fire. "Prayers for everyone. A salute to the firefighters, police, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to control the wildfire and save lives and properties. We are safe, just a little far from the fire. Let's stay safe," he wrote.
Another artist, Sunny B, who is currently in Kathmandu for dubbing his upcoming film Fight of Fury 2, shared that his studio in Pasadena, Los Angeles, was safe but covered in smoke. "According to the news I've received, the fire has not affected any Nepali people. The areas where Nepali communities reside are far from the affected zones," Sunny B added.
