A helicopter dropped 24,000 liters of water to extinguish the fire in the Mahabharat jungle – 11th Magh, Kavre. A fire that broke out in the Mahabharat forest located on the border of Khani Khola and Bethanchok municipalities in Kavrepalanchok was being tackled with the help of a helicopter on Friday afternoon.
Despite the helicopter dropping approximately 24,000 liters of water from Simrik Air, the fire has not yet been brought under control, and flames are still raging in the forest.
Bethanchok Municipality Chairperson Bhagwan Adhikari reported that the helicopter made 24 trips to drop water in the affected areas. Each time, the helicopter carried 1,000 liters of water from a park in Ward No. 2 of Bethanchok, releasing it over the fire. While the fire near populated areas like Ramitedanda and Jwanethumka has been controlled, other areas are still struggling to contain the flames.
The fire began last Tuesday afternoon at around 2 PM, and a team including the Nepal Army has been deployed to tackle the fire.
