Pushpa 2 Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 37: Allu Arjun’s Rs 1831 Cr Blockbuster Faces a Slowdown Amid Game Changer Release

Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, has emerged as the second-highest-grossing Indian film ever, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The movie has achieved a staggering worldwide gross of over Rs 1831 crore, but its momentum at the box office has begun to wane. Surpassing Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 2070 crore globally) now seems like a challenging feat.

On Day 36, the film earned Rs 2 crore at the domestic box office, while early estimates suggest Day 37 earnings dropped further to Rs 1.15 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Extended Version to Boost Collections

To reignite interest in the film, the producers had initially planned to release an extended cut during Sankranthi. However, the release has been postponed to January 17, featuring an additional 20 minutes of footage to attract audiences back to theatres.

Current Box Office Figures

  • Nett Domestic Collection: Rs 1213.15 crore
  • Worldwide Collection: Over Rs 1834 crore
  • Day 37 Occupancy:
    • Telugu: 22.10%
    • Hindi: 10.95%

Despite its initial stronghold, Pushpa 2 is now feeling the impact of Shankar’s recently released Game Changer, featuring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. The competition has not only reduced the number of screens for Pushpa 2 but also attracted significant attention. Game Changer opened with a robust Rs 51.25 crore on its first day, presenting stiff competition for Allu Arjun’s blockbuster.

Future Prospects

While Pushpa 2 continues to perform respectably, maintaining its pace to challenge Dangal’s record will require consistent footfalls and the strategic release of the extended version. All eyes are on January 17 to see if the additional footage can reinvigorate the film’s box office journey.
